An Unreliable Witness

To say this post is overdue is quite an understatement. I’d planned to post monthly once lockdown was lifted, but whilst freedom increased, my energy levels didn’t respond in the same way. My work in the NHS supporting those teams and leaders who are struggling is in great demand, and whilst I’ve still been taking photographs there been few events worthy of story-telling. Two trips to the Lake District, where the conditions I hoped for didn’t materialise, produced lots of images, but most of them were very similar.

Eventually I found a window to take some leave and for a few days rented a camper van and set off to new territory. My only previous visit to Devon had been purely incidental, passing through the county to reach Cornwall for a family holiday, but now the northern coastline was going to get my undivided attention for a couple of days. Lots of research to get the most out that short time enabled me to produce some shots that to my eye were quite special. The tides, light and weather didn’t always deliver the goods for me, but each location produced something worthwhile with one exception. I wish my research had told me that Hartford Point lighthouse wasn’t just subject to a road closure, but also swathed in tarpaulin while repairs are underway! My favourite images from the trip are now available on my limited edition prints page.

All locations checked I had time to head home via Merseyside for dinner with one of my daughters, and of course a few more images with a very minimal theme.
